This Week's Hairbrained Musings (8)

Another week of musings and moments.

*The last thing you ever want to admit to yourself is that your kids drive you crazy because they are so much like you.  Therefore, I refuse to admit this.  Denial is better.

*I love birthdays!  They are the perfect excuse to bake, overeat, have a glass of wine, and dine out.  They're not about getting older, they're about getting wider!

*There is no such thing as perfect weather.  No matter what the weather is like, there is always something wrong with it and someone there to point it out.

*Kids don't ever hear you when you ask them to do something "unpleasant" (like cleaning up, for instance) in a regular tone of voice-- or even when you shout, for that matter!  But if you whisper something about cookies or buying them something new, those same kids are all over you like white on rice, wanting to know when and how much.  It's a mystery that I'll never get to the bottom of.

*It is possible to clog the bathroom sink using only toothpaste-- again.  Thanks, Princess-- 'cuz once wasn't enough.

*I hate competitive moms.  Just last week, while perusing books at Target, a random mom (as in, someone I don't know) struck up a one-sided conversation with me about her 11 year-old daughter being "on an award-winning dance team, an award-winning soccer team, the swim team, and the honor roll.  What do your girls do?"  Who the hell cares?  And who are you, anyway?!  I just walked away.  I wanted to make her a t-shirt that says "My daughter is the winner I wish I could be."  Be proud, moms.  Don't be annoying.

*The spray bottle I use to deter the dog from making stupid(er) decisions works wonders to deter the children's bad behaviors, as well.

*It is very, VERY funny when kids use the word "shizzle" in a sentence.  It's even funnier when the 80 year-old Indian-American "bag boy" at the local supermarket says it!

Until next time...

  1. Sometimes I wish you would make these posts daily instead of weekly... haha... Is it bad that these weekly posts are sometimes the "light" of that particular day? I think I may be the guilty person pointing out everything wrong with the weather... Oh and the mom from Target, yeah my city is FULL of those... "Until next time" :)

  12. I was unaware about the toothpaste. Thanks for the heads up because I'm sure that must be in my four year old's future plans. I also use the pet spray bottle on the kids! (Note: it does not work well on the husband.)

    1. On the husband, huh? I bet it *would* wake his ass up, even if it didn't stop other undesirable behavior. Now *there's* a thought.

  13. So far we've clogged the sink with toilet paper, but not toothpaste, and I will be searching my cabinets to see if we have any spare spray bottles laying around as soon as I get off the computer : ) I stopped by to let you know I nominated you for the Sunshine Blogger and the Versatile Blogger Awards! Come pick them up at...
